I retrained as a Nutritional Therapist after a period of serious ill health in my mid-30s. At the time, I had young children and was running a baby swimming business, working long hours under constant stress and surviving on caffeine and sugary snacks. After three years of operating like this, my health collapsed. I developed extreme fatigue and severe IBS and was forced to sell my business and stop working—yet my symptoms persisted despite extensive medical tests and treatment.

Eventually, I turned to nutrition. A temporary anti-inflammatory diet brought significant improvement and helped restore my health. It was clear that nutrition—not medication—had made the difference, which led me to train for three years as a Nutritional Therapist.

In my late 40s, as I entered perimenopause, I noticed symptoms returning despite strong nutritional foundations. I recognised the role of chronic stress and began seeing the same pattern in my patients: nutrition alone wasn’t always enough. The missing piece was nervous system regulation.
This led to The Mindful Nutritionist approach—integrating nutrition with nervous system support to address the root causes of symptoms and support lasting mind-body health.
